The OFB has announced that it received an export order to supply 5.56x45mm NATO M193 ball ammunition to the USA. The ammunition will be made at the Ordnance Factory Varagaon and will be supplied in the current financial year
The large calibre AMR, named ‘Vidwanshak’ is a 100 per cent indigenous weapon by OFB, launched during the 'Atmanirbhar Week'.
The ECWCS will help the soldiers beat the extreme sub-zero temperature in coming months. The government owned Kolkata-based defence manufacturer, the OFB, has completed modifications on the ECWCS samples as suggested by the Army and is now awaiting field trials.
The reply comes after reports that Indian Army has for the first time asked for testing shelf life of the multimode hand grenades.
The official added that “Board of Officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs had also conducted extensive trials of the assault rifle and termed it a reliable weapon which can be introduced with the paramilitary forces too.”
In a counter press release, the OFB stated, “for the accidents which occurred between Jan 2015 to Dec 2019, where defect investigation has been completed, only 19 per cent of cases are attributable to the OFB.”
