Marandi alleged rampant corruption in sand, mineral, iron, and coal sectors under the chief minister’s protection, while essential services such as hospitals, schools, pensions, and housing schemes remain inaccessible to the poor.
Marandi described the controversy as the latest flashpoint between the ruling JMM-led coalition and the BJP.
Speaking at a press conference at the party’s state headquarters, Marandi said the state has drawn up rules for auctioning more than 500 sand ghats which, in his view, are structured in such a way that poor, tribal, Dalit and backward youths cannot participate.
