His statement comes on the second day of his protest as the police have extended permission till Saturday, though he has reiterated that he won’t leave Mumbai until the government implements reservation for Maratha.
The decision was taken in the wake of the situation in areas like Kopar Khairne, which witnessed violence during the Maratha quota agitation on Wednesday.
Today was the second phase of the state-wide shutdown call by the Maratha Kranti Morcha. The first phase was held spontaneously on Tuesday in most districts of northern, western and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra.
Gathering at the different locations in Mumbai and the neighbouring regions on Wednesday, protesters raised slogans against the chief minister and Public Works Department Minister Chandrakant Patil for allegedly insulting sentiments of the Maratha community.
