The Kerala Police have received legal advice stating that no case can be filed against renowned film director Adoor Gopalakrishnan for his remarks regarding financial support to Scheduled Caste (SC) and women filmmakers.
In the context of re-induction of Saji Cherian in the Pinarayi Vijayan cabinet, Arif Mohammad Khan had sought legal opinion on whether ‘governor cannot reject the name of minister suggested by chief minister’.
The Governor had earlier stated that higher education comes under the concurrent list and so, the University Amendment Act requires the Centre's approval. It is in this context that the Governor primarily sought legal advice.
