Amid a politically sensitive retrenchment drive that has triggered sustained agitation by casual workers, the Krishnagar municipality has moved to overhaul its solid waste management system, announcing the induction of hydraulic container vehicles in all 25 wards with the stated aim of eliminating permanent garbage vats across the town.
In a decisive push towards cleanliness, hygiene and environmental responsibility, Krishnagar Municipality, today, rolled out the ‘Clean KM Initiative’, a comprehensive waste-management drive that will see the installation of nearly 1,000 garbage bins for wet and dry waste across the town.
In a drastic and long-anticipated clean-up drive, the Krishnagar municipality has initiated a sweeping purge of “ghost workers”, laying off 106 contractual staff in the first phase of what officials describe as a decisive attempt to restore administrative integrity and financial stability.
