Counting began at 8 am across Keralam today, starting with postal ballots, followed by Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) votes. The exercise is being conducted across 140 counting halls spread over 43 locations, all under tight security.
According to the schedule announced by the ECI, Kerala or Keralam, a Left-ruled South Indian state, will go to the polls on April 9 along with Puducherry and Assam.
Priyanka, incidentally, is the Congress MP from Wayanad in poll-bound Kerala. Signalling a high-stakes push in the key northeastern state, she was recently appointed Chairperson of the Screening Committee for Assam—a state also due for polls along with Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry in 2026.
