As Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan on Tuesday, attention turns to the extraordinary journey undertaken 67 years ago by India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, a challenging expedition that remains the cornerstone of the enduring special relationship between the two nations, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh recalls.
A day after Nepali student’s death, allegedly by suicide, at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) here and forcible evacuation of students of the neighbouring country threatened to trigger a diplomatic row, a visibly embarrassed Odisha government constituted a high-level inquiry/fact-finding committee to probe the incident, which it described as the ‘most unfortunate’.
During that meeting, the neighbouring country Bhutan closed the India-Bhutan international gate for COVID in 2019.
Altogether 16 human skulls and 34 other skeletal remains were recovered from the possession of Sanjay Prasad, besides some Bhutanese currency, ATM cards of various countries and a foreign SIM.
