Tension prevailed in Maddur town of Mandya district in Karnataka on Monday in connection with the incident of stone-pelting during a Ganesha procession.
The police resorted to mild force to control the situation and pacify two groups of people who had come face to face over the issue.
There will be one-way traffic on 55 roads, and 99 roads will be closed for heavy vehicles; police have also notified all procession routes as no-parking zones from 11 am on September 23 to 6 am on September 24.
Called the God of new beginnings and remover of obstacles, Lord Ganesha is worshipped across India.
