In a landmark achievement for the region, Dr Neela Bhattacharya has been conferred the prestigious Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS), becoming the first female surgeon from north Bengal to receive this international honour.
Dr Sen was a state government-nominated member in the state medical council. He has been replaced by Dr Asim Sarkar in the body.
