The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on Thursday said it has frozen the account balance to the tune of Rs 21.14 crore of OctaFX India Private Ltd and related entities in a case related to the violation of FEMA regulations.
The 'lookout' circular will effectively prevent Deshmukh from fleeing the country since he has skipped at least five ED summons to join the probe.
The Supreme Court on Friday said it would hear on August 3 a plea filed by Anil Deshmukh seeking protection from any coercive action in the money laundering case lodged by the ED.
Deshmukh had earlier skipped two summons of the ED in the case related to bribery allegations.
Responding to a question during an informal media interaction at Jantar Mantar after his dharna, the CM said that besides the ED notice to his son Raninder, notices had been received by him and his wife Preneet Kaur from the Income Tax department.
