Agniveers will be eligible for gallantry awards, the Department of Military Affairs said in the backdrop of protests against the Agnipath scheme in different parts of the country.
Colonels, who post retirement at 54, were eligible for reemployment till 58, would now serve till 57, without reemployment, Brigadiers till 58 and Major Generals till 59, an addition of a year.
Armed forces will fall under the ambit of Department of Military Affairs which will have appropriate expertise to manage military affairs, headed by the Chief of Military Staff.
