DTA seeks ban on imported tea sale

Stating that tea was being illegally imported from neighbouring Nepal, the DTA has written to different officials concerned, including the deputy chairman of the Tea Board of India, seeking their intervention in the matter.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry, North Bengal (FOCIN), has requested Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to allow small wholesale and retail shop owners to open their establishments.

CCPA wants tea gardens to remain open

In a letter to Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha, the Chairman of the CCPA, Vivek Goyenka, has urged the government to allow operations in tea estates, subject to adopting all safety and hygiene norms.
