Indian men's team head coach Craig Fulton said his side will focus on detailed and tailored preparations after the pool draw for the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026 placed them in a challenging group alongside strong opponents.
The camp forms a key part of India’s build-up to the home leg of the Pro League, scheduled at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela from February 10 to 15. The tournament will mark India’s first major assignment of the year.
Along with Harmanpreet, both of India’s first-choice goalkeepers, Krishan Bahadur Pathak and Suraj Karkera, have also been rested.
This time, however, with the World Cup qualification at stake, India has brought their best squad to the campaign and will be looking to showcase their A game in Rajgir.

The 48-year-old South African landed in New Delhi where he met with Hockey India officials. He is scheduled to fly down to Bengaluru where the ongoing National Coaching Camp is being held at Sports Authority of India (SAI), Bengaluru.
The Harare born Fulton started as player-cum-coach of Chelmsford Club in England and thereafter coached club teams in South Africa .
