Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday cracked down on fake registrations for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, directing the police to take strict legal action against travel agents involved in fraudulent bookings, even as he reviewed pilgrim facilities and security arrangements at Nunwan and Chandanwari.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his greetings to devotees undertaking the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra in Kashmir, describing the pilgrimage as a timeless symbol of India's spiritual heritage, national unity and selfless service, while urging pilgrims to uphold cleanliness, safety, environmental protection and support for local livelihoods during the pilgrimage.
Ahead of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Inspector General of Police (Security) J&K, Sujit Kumar, extensively reviewed the security arrangements at key pilgrim facilities in Jammu and Ramban districts, including the newly established River Front Lodging & Registration Centre in Jammu and transit camps at Chanderkote and Lamber.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday announced that the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will commence this year on 3 July and conclude on Raksha Bandhan, 28 August , spanning a total of 57 days.
