He underlined that while institutions and procedures provide the framework for democracy, its real strength lies in citizens’ engagement with legislatures, in understanding their work, holding them accountable, and trusting their processes.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that debate and discussion in Parliament and the assemblies are the most effective means of addressing public issues in a democratic system, and it must be ensured that the House functions as per rules of the respective legislature.
It will also commemorate 100 years of Veer Vitthalbhai Patel, who became the first elected Indian Speaker of a legislature.
A joint inspection of the assembly premises was conducted by the Speaker, assembly officials, and senior Delhi Police officers to assess on-ground arrangements, including venue readiness, entry and exit management, seating layouts, and emergency protocols.
