Earlier, after winning the toss, Harmanpreet Kaur opted to bat first and soon the decision backfired as India lost opener Smriti Mandhana (2 runs off 4 balls) in the second over of the game to Salma Khatun.

Following Mandhana’s departure, Pooja Vastraker (20 runs off 20 balls) joined Mithali Raj (15 runs off 12 balls) at the crease but soon Raj was sent back for a run-out; Vastraker came next.

After two run-outs, skipper Harmapreet and all-rounder Deepti Sharma stabilised the Indian innings. However, Salma Khatun broke Kaur-Deepti’s partnership by sending them to the pavilion in successive overs.
