Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has now added another gem to his already illustrious career as a player and a captain both. With India’s 318 run record win against West Indies on Monday, Virat Kohli has now equalled MS Dhoni’s record of 27 Test wins.

The win has thus made Virat Kohli the joint-most successful captain for India along with MS Dhoni who had retired from Test Match cricket in 2014. While former Indian captain MS Dhoni had taken 60 matches to complete 27 Test wins, Virat has done the job in 47 Tests and is set to overtake him sooner than later.

As far as the win percentage is concerned, MS Dhoni had a winning percentage of 45 as captain. In a total of 60 matches that he captained India, India won 27, lost 18 and drew 15 Tests. On the other hand, Virat’s 47 Tests have produced a better win percentage (almost 58) with India having registered wins in 27 of these, losing 10 and drawing 10 Test Matches.

Virat Kohli also went on to overtake Sourav Ganguly’s tally of most overseas Test Matches won by an Indian captain. While Ganguly’s India had won 11 matches in overseas conditions, Virat has already bettered it with 12 and with the way Indian team is performing, he is all set to win a few more.

Kohli had taken over the captaincy from Dhoni when he had retired from the longest format of the game in 2014. Last year, under Virat Kohli, India managed to defeat Australia in Australia in the Test Series for the first time in the history of India-Australia bilateral cricket.
