Sunil Gavaskar does not forget promises.
The former India captain recently met Jemimah Rodrigues and turned a light-hearted assurance into a warm, memorable moment. Gavaskar gifted the India women’s team star a customised guitar shaped like a cricket bat, and then sang with her.

In a video now going viral on social media, Gavaskar is seen greeting Jemimah with a smile before handing over the unusual gift. He even cracked a joke, saying he was not the “opening bat” that day.
The meeting’s most loved moment came later. Gavaskar and Jemimah sang Yeh Dosti, the iconic song from the film Sholay, originally sung by Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey. The clip instantly struck a chord with fans.
“Sunil sir kept his promise and we ended up jamming with the coolest Bat-ar ever. This was a special one,” Jemimah wrote on Instagram.
Gavaskar had earlier said he would jam with Jemimah if she went on to win the Women’s ODI World Cup. The moment was his way of keeping that word, in his own style.
