Sri Lanka on Wednesday defeated Bangladesh by 122 runs in final ODI of the three-match series to make a clean sweep by 3-0. Angelo Mathews won the Man of the Match as well as Man of the Tournament award.

Early in the day, Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne won the toss and chose to bat against Bangladesh at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Apart from Mathews, Kusal Mendis scored 54 runs and Karunaratne scored 46 runs to help their team get to a good total.

For Bangladesh, Shafiul Islam and Soumya Sarkar took 3 wickets apiece and conceded 68 runs and 56 runs, respectively.

Bangladesh, who had a tough target to chase, never really got going and the fall of wickets at regular intervals made things worse for them. Only Soumya Sarkar made a gritty 69 to help Bangladesh post 172 runs before getting bundled up.

For Sri Lanka, all bowlers bowled well but Dasun Shanaka caught the limelight with figures of 3 for 27. Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara took 2 wickets each.

Scorecard: Sri Lanka 294 for 8 in 50 overs (Angelo Mathews 87, Kusal Mendis 54, Soumya Sarkar 3/56) defeated Bangladesh 172 for 10 in 36 overs (Soumya Sarkar 69, Taijul Islam 39, Dasun Shanaka 3/27) by 122 runs.
