Rajasthan Royals produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Mumbai Indians by 27 runs in a rain-curtailed 11-over IPL 2026 clash at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Led by a sensational unbeaten knock from Yashasvi Jaiswal and a fearless cameo from teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Rajasthan posted a daunting 150/3 before restricting Mumbai to 123/9.

Asked to bat first, Rajasthan Royals came out with clear intent despite the shortened format. Jaiswal set the tone early, smashing 22 runs off the opening over bowled by Deepak Chahar.

The much-anticipated contest between Sooryavanshi and Jasprit Bumrah lived up to the hype, with the 15-year-old taking the attack to the seasoned pacer, striking two sixes in a fearless display of strokeplay.

Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi tore into the Mumbai attack, racing to a fifty in just 16 balls. The teenager continued his onslaught, hammering Shardul Thakur for multiple boundaries and sixes in a blistering over before eventually falling for a 14-ball 39, caught by Tilak Varma near the boundary.

Jaiswal, however, remained the central force. The left-hander brought up a 23-ball half-century and continued to dominate, finishing unbeaten on 77 off 32 balls, laced with boundaries and towering sixes.

Contributions from Riyan Parag (20 off 10) added further impetus as Rajasthan surged to a massive 150/3 in just 11 overs. AM Ghazanfar was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai, returning figures of 2/21.

Early strikes dent Mumbai’s chase

Chasing 151 in a high-pressure 66-ball contest, Mumbai Indians needed a flying start but were rocked early by Trent Boult, who dismissed Rohit Sharma for a duck in the opening over.

Quick wickets followed as Mumbai slipped to 24/3, with the top order failing to cope with the early movement and disciplined bowling.

Skipper Hardik Pandya attempted to revive the chase with an aggressive 42 off 18 balls, showcasing his power-hitting under pressure. However, he found little support from the rest of the batting lineup.

Mumbai’s middle order, including Tilak Varma and Tim David, struggled to accelerate as Rajasthan’s bowlers tightened their grip.

Boult led the charge with 3/19, while Sandeep Sharma executed his death overs to perfection, ensuring Mumbai never got close to the target.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was named Player of the Match for his match-defining unbeaten 77, anchoring Rajasthan’s dominant victory.
