There seems no end to Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami and his wife Hasin Jahan saga. Now, former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni had come forward in support of his team-mate Shami.

Talking to Jansatta.com, Dhoni said, “As much as I know, Shami is a great human being and he can’t cheat his wife and country. It is Shami’s personal life and we should not comment on it.”

Earlier, Shami’s father-in-law, Mohammad Hasan had also supported him.

“We don’t know much about this spat and Shami is a great personality. Only God knows what is happening. Hasin is very focused and whatever she needed from childhood she got it,” Hasan told ABP.

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has been booked on seven charges, including the attempt to murder by ‘food poisoning and physical attack’, after his wife Hasin Jahan filed a complaint against him a few of days ago.

Following the allegations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) withheld its annual contract with Shami.

Meanwhile, while talking to new agency ANI, former cricketer and Uttar Pradesh minister Chetan Chauhan had backed Shami.

Talking about the on-going controversy, Chauhan said it is his personal matter and it has nothing to do with cricket and Indian cricket board (BCCI) should not withhold his contract.

“The good thing is they have not cancelled the contract and only withheld it. I think the contract should go on because as far as the cricketer’s ability is concerned, it has nothing to do with it. And also he has not been pronounced guilty by the court,” said Chauhan.

Notably, former Indian skipper Kapil Dev had also backed Shami. Talking to Wah cricket, Kapil Dev had said, he refuses to believe the allegations made by Hasin Jahan.

“I refuse to believe the allegations that have been leveled by Shami’s wife. If she knew about match-fixing then why didn’t she report it earlier? When the relationship was fine, why was she silent then? There is an investigation team. Let them do their work. If Shami has done something like this then it is unacceptable and disgraceful,” Kapil said to Wah Cricket.

“Shami is a brilliant hardworking cricketer. I agree that his personal relationship is in trouble currently but such kinds of allegations by his wife are nasty and sickening until proven,” Kapil said.

FIR had been filed against Shami under sections 498A, 323, 307, 376, 506, 328, 34 of the Indian Penal Code against Shami and four others following Hasin Jahan’s complaint.
