The 1-1 draw between Manchester United and Arsenal on Monday at the Old Trafford drew a bit of controversy post the way Arsenal got the equalizer.
It all happened in the 58th minute of the game when Saka passed the ball to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who beat David De Gea to bring Arsenal back in the game as they were trailing by a goal earlier.
While Aubameyang received the ball from Saka and headed towards the goalpost, the linesman raised the offside flag. But this could not stop Aubameyang from netting the ball, passing United’s defence which got relaxed after the flag was raised. However, a subsequent VAR review ruled out the decision and awarded Arsenal a goal.

“Of course [we were distracted]. If the linesman keeps the flag down… but we also know that there’s VAR as well, so if it’s offside, it’s offside,” De Gea told Sky Sports as quoted by Goal.
Admitting the mistake, the goalkeeper said, “There’s nothing else to say, we just need to keep focused on our game. We need to learn from that mistake. It was a big mistake for us. We gave away an important goal.
“I think the game was well balanced so they had good chances and we had good chances. But we’re playing at Old Trafford so we need to win these games if we want to finish in the top four.”
