Spain midfielder Pedri celebrated his country’s FIFA World Cup 2026 triumph by revealing that he had seemingly predicted the historic moment more than a year ago.

Moments after Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time to lift their second FIFA World Cup title, the Barcelona star shared a photo of himself kissing the trophy and referenced a cryptic social media post that had left fans puzzled in 2025.

“It was written! 190726. The day when an entire country’s dream comes true. The day when we are WORLD CHAMPIONS,” Pedri wrote on X.

What did Pedri’s ‘190726’ post mean?

The numbers “190726” quickly grabbed fans’ attention because Pedri had posted the exact same sequence on Instagram on June 10, 2025, without offering any explanation.

At the time, the cryptic post sparked curiosity, but after Spain’s World Cup victory, supporters interpreted it as 19 July 2026, the date of the FIFA World Cup final.

More than 13 months later, Pedri’s mysterious message appeared to become reality as Spain defeated defending champions Argentina to reclaim football’s biggest prize for the first time since 2010.

Pedri plays key role in Spain’s World Cup triumph

The 23-year-old was one of Spain’s standout performers throughout the tournament, featuring in every match as Luis de la Fuente’s side combined defensive solidity with midfield control to dominate the competition.

The World Cup final at MetLife Stadium remained deadlocked for 90 minutes despite Spain controlling possession for long spells. Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez produced several outstanding saves to keep his side in the contest before Enzo Fernandez was sent off late in regulation time.
