In the 37th match of the 11th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) between Dinesh Karthik-led Kolkata Knight Riders and Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians, MI batsmen batted well to take the score to 181 runs in 20 overs for the loss of four wickets at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Sunday.

After winning the toss, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik invited MI to bat first and soon their plan back-fired as MI’s openers Suryakumar Yadav (59) and Evin Lewis (43) gave Mumbai a flying start.

MI’s opening duo added 91 runs for the first wicket in just 9.2 overs. However, Andre Russell brought Kolkata back into the game by sending Evin back to the stands.

After the departure of Lewis, skipper Rohit Sharma joined Yadav at the crease, but Sunil Narine bowled him out at the score of 11 runs.

Following Rohit Sharma’s dismissal, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, along with Suryakumar Yadav (35), took charge of MI’s innings.

West Indies bowler Russell broke their partnership by sending Yadav back to the pavilion and soon Krunal Pandya (14) followed.

From Kolkata camp, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell took two wickets each.
