Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara was all praise for Mithali Raj, who on Tuesday called time on her illustrious T20 International career. Pujara took to Twitter to hail the legendary cricketer, calling her an “inspiration for tons of girls”.

Pujara tweeted: ” Congratulations on a great T20 international career @M_Raj03! You are an inspiration for tons of girls out there #MithaliRaj.”

Notably, veteran India batter Mithali Raj announced her retirement from T20 Internationals on Tuesday.

“After representing India in T20 internationals since 2006, I wish to retire from T20Is to focus my energies on readying myself for the 2021 One Day World Cup,” Mithali said in a BCCI press release, adding, “It remains my dream to win a World Cup for my country and I want to give it my best. I thank the BCCI for their continuous support and wish the Indian T20 team good luck as they prepare for the home series against South Africa Women.”

Talking about Pujara, the right-handed batsman, who was the leading run-scorer in the 2018-19 tour of Australia, did not have a good run in the West Indies tour and managed just 60 runs in the two-match Test series which India won comfortably by 2-0.

Pujara will next be seen in the three-match Test series against South Africa starting from October 2.
