Veteran Australian speedster Mitchell Johnson on Wednesday jokingly said Indian skipper Virat Kohli should announce his retirement if he fails to cross the three-digit mark in the ongoing third Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The Boxing Day Test has been set up perfectly as the ongoing four-match Test series between India and Australia, who are locked 1-1.

Virat Kohli-led India won the first Test match by 37 runs at the Adelaide and then the home team levelled the Test series by registering a thumping 146 runs victory at the Perth ground.

On Wednesday morning, taking a dig at the MCG ground, Johnson tweeted a picture of a road insinuating that Melbourne ground is as flat as a road and the batsmen are going to make merry on the wicket.

Replying to Johnson’s tweet, a cricket enthusiast said that the Australian was making excuses beforehand as Indian skipper will go onto score a ton at the historic MCG.

Johnson was at his witty best in response, writing, “No excuses, I’m not playing. If he doesn’t score 100 plus on this, he should retire.”

In the ongoing third Test match at the end of first Day’s play, India posted 215/2 in 89 overs. Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara (68*) and Virat Kohli (47*) were at the crease for the visitors after Pat Cummins removed debutant Mayank Agarwal and all-rounderHanuma Vihari.

Earlier, Mitchell Johnson called out Virat Kohli for his “disrespectful and silly” attitude at the Perth Test against Australian skipper Tim Paine.

“Virat Kohli could not do that with Tim Paine, shaking the Australian captain’s hand but barely making eye contact with him. To me, that is disrespectful,” The Aussie wrote in a column for Fox Sports.
