India’s campaign at the Uber Cup 2026 came to an end after the women’s team suffered a 0-5 loss to China in their final Group A tie in Horsens, Denmark on Monday. The defeat meant they finished third in the group and missed out on a place in the quarter-finals. China and hosts Denmark progressed as the top two teams, while India ended ahead of Ukraine.

India had entered the tie needing a win to stay in contention after a close 2-3 loss to Denmark and a 4-1 victory over Ukraine earlier in the tournament.
In the opening singles match, P. V. Sindhu delivered a strong performance against world No. 2 Wang Zhiyi. Sindhu took the match to three games and even led 18-12 in the decider, but Wang fought back with a late surge to win 21-16, 19-21, 21-19.

India have historically performed well at the Uber Cup, winning bronze medals in 2014 and 2016 after reaching the semi-finals on both occasions.

Meanwhile, in the Thomas Cup, India’s men’s team, champions in 2022, have already secured a place in the quarter-finals with wins over Canada and Australia. They will take on China in their final group-stage match on Wednesday.
