For the first time in the history of cricket, the lovers of the game have something new to relish — ice cricket. Favourite cricket stars from across continents are playing Ice Cricket 2018 two-match T20 series and the opening match was played on February 8 at St Moritz, Switzerland.

Earlier, on Thursday after winning the toss, Virender Sehwag-led Palace Diamonds opted to bat and scored 164 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs.

The former explosive Indian opener, Virender Sehwag, once again showed the world his master class as he scored his first fifty on the frozen layer. During his sensational 62-run knock, Sehwag hit 5 maximum and four boundaries.

From Diamonds’ side, Sehwag was the top scorer and the team lost Tillakaratne Dilshan (8), Mahela Jayawardene (7) and Michael Hussey (1). Sehwag, along with Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds, tried to stablise their innings after the early loss, yet their efforts were not productive as they lost the first match of the two-match T20 tournament.

Sehwag’s fifty went in vain, as Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi’s Royals won the match by six wickets.

Following the target of 165 runs, Shahid Afridi’s reached 166/4 in just 15.4 overs. From Royals England batsman Owais Shah was the top scorer (74).
