Joe Root was spotted celebrating in style after claiming the wicket of West Indies skipper Jason Holder in the ongoing World Cup match between England and West Indies on Friday at The Rose Bowl in Southampton.

Root’s moves became the cynosure of all eyes as his style of celebration was the replica of Ian Botham’s.

The International Cricket Council (ICC), too, tweeted the video, asking fans who among the two did the move better.

“Joe Root in 2019 or Ian Botham in 1992 – who did it better?” tweeted ICC.

Winning the toss, England invited West Indies to bat first.

The latter did not have had a good start as they were three down for just 55 runs but an 89-run partnership between Shimron Hetmyer (39) and Nicholas Pooran (63) for the fourth wicket steadied the Carribean ship, threatening the English bowlers.

For once, the match seemed to be going away from the clutches of Englishmen, but at that moment Root struck to sent Shimron Hetmyer and Jason Holder back to pavilion in consecutive overs giving the Englishmen an upper hand in the match.

Following the wreck, Windies were bowled out for 212 runs in 44.4 overs. Root ended with the figures of 2/27 in 5 overs. Jofra Archer and Mark Wood claimed 3 wickets each.
