If recent reports from certain sections of the media are to be believed, Manchester United did not sign Sporting CP star Bruno Fernandes because the talent scouts of the club claimed that he took risks a little too many while having the ball in his possession.

The 24-year-old player was reportedly linked with a move to Manchester United for almost the entire summer transfer window. Tottenham Hotspur were another team who were interested in roping him in. Their interest in Fernandes had aroused after he netted a staggering 32 goals and 18 assists in 54 matches for Sporting CP in the 2018-19 season.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was himself interested in the deal but a report carried by Daily Mail confirms that he lost interest after the scouts of the club stated that he would lose possession of the ball too often while trying to be innovative.

The report further claims that Solskjaer always believes in players who are reliable in possession. The same can also be seen in many of his signings including former Leicester City star Harry Maguire.

Despite, Manchester United deciding against signing Fernandes, he has been in great form in the Primeira Liga so far and already scored a couple of goals and recorded four assists in four matches. With the Red Devils running out of options, they may reconsider their decision in the next transfer window opening in January 2020.
