The Rajasthan Royals narrowly defeated the Gujarat Titans by 6 runs in Match 9 of the Indian Premier League, transforming what initially seemed like a one-sided contest into a thrilling finish at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Gujarat Titans, chasing 211, appeared to be in complete control, thanks to Sai Sudharsan, who anchored the innings with an impressive 73 off 44 balls. With support from Jos Buttler (26 off 14) and Kumar Kushagra (18 off 14), GT cruised to 103/1 in 10 overs, making the chase appear well within reach despite the absence of regular skipper Shubman Gill.

However, the game flipped dramatically in the middle overs thanks to Ravi Bishnoi. Introduced as an impact substitute, he dismantled the Titans’ middle order with a stunning spell, removing Sudharsan, Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar, and Rahul Tewatia to finish with match-defining figures of 4/41. The collapse saw GT slide from 103/1 to 133/5, losing grip on the chase.
Just when Rajasthan seemed to have sealed the game, Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada sparked a late resurgence with a fighting 43-run stand. The equation became more challenging, the pressure intensified, and the match reached its climax in the final over.
Needing 7 off the last ball, GT still had a flicker of hope, but Tushar Deshpande held his nerve brilliantly, delivering a clinical finish to seal a memorable win for Rajasthan.
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals had set the foundation for this thriller with a commanding batting display. Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a fluent start with 55, combining elegance with intent, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi injected early momentum with a brisk 31.
Dhruv Jurel anchored and elevated the innings with his brilliant 75 off 42 balls, transforming a strong total into a daunting one. He paced his knock expertly, accelerating in the death overs and taking on both pace and spin with authority.
Late cameos from Shimron Hetmyer and Ravindra Jadeja ensured RR crossed the 200-run mark, finishing at 210/6, a total that ultimately proved just enough in a game that swung till the very last delivery.
