Recent reports from England reveal that a football agent, who had been brought to the court on charges of corruption, has accused legendary former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson of match-fixing. The agent went on to state that Ferguson had fixed a UEFA Champions League match between Manchester United and Juventus.

According to a report carried by Daily Mail, ‘Pino’ Pagliara, the agent made these claims after he was produced on a trial along with another football agent and former Barnsley assistant coach Tommy Wright. Notably, all of them have denied their charges of corruption.

The trio has been charged after a series of sting operations done by Daily Telegraphs. One of these sting operations conducted by Daily Telegraphs had forced Sam Allardyce to resign as England manager, a couple of months after he had taken charge in 2016.

The prosecutor of the case Brian O’Neill QC later revealed how the agent has claimed that he “launched into a diatribe about” Sir Alex Ferguson. He then accused him of fixing the result of the UEFA Champions League match between Red Devils and Juventus match against the Italian side.

According to the prosecutor, football agent, Pagliara claimed that he had later “thanked” Ferguson and given him “a gold, thirty grand (£30,000) Rolex watch” as a token of gratitude.

The trial is still going on in the court and no verdict has been passed on the case.
