Following the allegations levelled by former T20I skipper Mithali Raj that Ramesh Powar “humiliated” her during the recently concluded T20 Women’s World Cup in West Indies, the Indian coach has submitted his report to BCCI. In his report, Ramesh Powar has accused Mithali Raj of being selfish and putting her interest ahead of the team. Powar also blamed the senior player for throwing tantrums and creating chaos.

In his 10-page report mainly focused on Mithali Raj, Powar said the highest T20I run scorer of India even threatened to retire midway through the ICC Women’s World T20 after being denied the opening slot.

After Ramesh Powar’s accusations, Mithali Raj took to Twitter to express her disappointment and wrote she was “deeply saddened and hurt by the aspersions cast” on her. Mithali also wrote that her commitment, hard work and patriotism were being questioned. The veteran cricketer ended her Tweet saying it was the “darkest day” of her life.

“I’m deeply saddened & hurt by the aspersions cast on me. My commitment to the game & 20yrs of playing for my country. The hard work, sweat, in vain. Today, my patriotism doubted, my skill set questioned & all the mud slinging- it’s the darkest day of my life. May god give strength (sic),” Mithali Raj wrote on Twitter.

Powar submitted his report after Mithali sent a scathing mail to BCCI saying “some people in power are trying to destroy her career”. The mail had got leaked and gone viral on social media.
