Arsene Wenger’s decision to step down as Arsenal manager at the end of the ongoing season was almost universally met by shock across the globe and a majority of his current players took to social media to thank their boss for guiding them in their professional footballing careers.

Wenger’s 22-year-old tryst with Arsenal will come to an end in May, the manager confirmed on Friday, ending what has been a eventful reign in the English capital that saw unprecedented success in the early years but it became a fractious towards the end as a decade-long Premier League drought had majority of supporters miffed.
