Sunrisers Hyderabad could receive a timely boost in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 season, with regular captain Pat Cummins likely to rejoin the squad on April 17, ahead of their clash against Chennai Super Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, Cummins, who has not featured in a match since the Ashes against England, is set to undergo a fitness test in Australia. The franchise remains optimistic about his return, pending clearance and a No Objection Certificate from Cricket Australia. The pacer had travelled to India ahead of the season but returned home earlier this month after undergoing scans on his back following SRH’s win over Kolkata Knight Riders.

In his absence, Ishan Kishan has been leading the side, guiding SRH to two wins in five matches. The team currently sits fourth on the points table with four points and a healthy net run rate, keeping them firmly in the mid-table race.

However, SRH have also suffered a setback, with England all-rounder Brydon Carse ruled out of the remainder of the season due to injury without playing a game.

Confirming the development, the IPL said, “Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have picked Dilshan Madushanka as a replacement for Brydon Carse for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Carse has been ruled out of the ongoing IPL season due to an injury.”

The statement added, “Dilshan Madushanka, a left-arm medium pacer, has represented Sri Lanka in one Test, 28 ODIs, and 19 T20Is and has 70 wickets in international cricket against his name. He will join SRH for INR 75 lakh. The Sri Lankan bowler was previously a part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL.”

Madushanka, known for his ability to swing the new ball, will strengthen an attack featuring Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat. His arrival, combined with Cummins’ expected return, could significantly bolster SRH’s campaign going forward.
