Former England opener Raman Subba Row dies aged 92
Former England opener and ICC match referee Raman Subba Row has died at the age of 92.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on Tuesday asked the president of the country’s football union to step down after England players were racially abused during a European qualifier match between England and Bulgaria which the Three Lions won 6-0.
“I call on Borislav Mihaylov to immediately resign as president of the Bulgarian Football Union,” Borissov was quoted as saying by the BBC.
“After yesterday’s (Tuesday) shameful loss of the Bulgarian national team and given the bad results of our football, I ordered to end any relationship with BFU (Bulgarian Football Union), including financial, until the withdrawal of Borislav Mihaylov from the post.”

Meanwhile, England forward Raheem Sterling described the call for Mihaylov’s resignation as a “good move”.

Notably, racist chants from supporters forced the match officials twice to stop the Euro 2020 qualifier tie between England and Bulgaria on Tuesday. The play was stopped for the first time in the 28th minute when the guests were leading 2-0.
Once restarted, the match was halted again with just two minutes to go in the first half. However, Croatian referee Ivan Bebek held words with coaching staff and players from both the sides and restarted the game.
Riding on braces from Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling, England thrashed Bulgaria 6-0 at the Vasil Levski National Stadium.
Apart from the two, Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane scored a goal each to lead England to a one-sided victory.
