The Borussia Dortmund team bus was rocked by an explosion while en route to Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday and their UEFA Champions League game against Monaco has been subsequently been cancelled.

The official statement on the club website (www.bvb.de/eng) read:
“There was an incident shortly after the BVB Team Bus left the hotel en route to the stadium. The bus was damaged in two places, while a person sustained injuries and was taken to hospital. We will provide you with more information as soon as we know more."

Marc Bartra, the former Barcelona defender who is plying his trade with the Bundesliga giants, is the injured player, several media outlets have confirmed.

A tweet from Dortmund's official account read: "In the explosion, was injured @MarcBartra and is currently in the hospital. Good and quick recovery, Marc! #bvbasm"
