The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)  announced a 15-member squad on Tuesday for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 to be played in England and Wales. Mashrafe Mortaza will lead the Bangladesh World Cup squad with Shakib Al Hasan as his deputy.

Middle-order batsman Mosaddek Hossain is making a comeback to the team. He last played for Bangladesh in the Asia Cup last year.

The Bangladesh selectors have also picked pacer Abu Jayed. Jayed is yet to make his debut in ODIs, but had impressed with his swing bowling during the Tests in New Zealand last month.

Bangladesh will begin their World Cup campaign on 2 June, playing South Africa at the Kennington Oval. Prior to that, they will be playing two practice matches against Pakistan and India on May 26 and 28, respectively.

The quadrennial event is starting from May 30. So far, New Zealand, Australia and India, apart from Bangladesh, have announced their squads.

Meanwhile, the BCB also announced a 17-man squad for a tri-nation series that will be played in Ireland in May ahead of the World Cup, Bangladesh media reported. Batsman Yasir Ali and spinner Naeem Hasan have been added to the lineup of 15 named for the World Cup squad.
