La Liga: Giuliano Simeone suffers double leg fracture in friendly game
Giuliano Simeone, the son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, will miss the entire season after suffering a double fracture in his left leg during a friendly game.
Atletico Madrid have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their UEFA Europa League semi-final with Arsenal as the Rojiblancos have confirmed left-back Felipe Luis is fit again and available for selection.
“Filipe Luis is back. Our Brazilian left-back has fully recovered from the fibula fracture he suffered on 15 March at the RZD Arena against Lokomotiv Moscow in the UEFA Europa League Round-of-16,” a club statement read.
The Brazilian’s return is a timely one as the tie is evenly poised after the first leg in London ended in a 1-1 draw.

“He began training with the group on 28 April before our La Liga match against Alaves and has now been given medical clearance,” the statement added.

Sime Vrsajlko’s red card early on had handicapped Diego Simeon’s men severely, yet the the fact that the Spanish side managed to score a crucial away goal gives them the advantage ahead of the second leg in Madrid.

Arsenal have been poor away from home this season, barring a few noteworthy displays, and are very much the underdogs.
Yet, the fact that Arsene Wenger will be leaving the club at the end of the season might serve to galvanise the Gunners and Atletico would do well not to underestimate the North Londoners.
Apar from the aforementioned Vrsajlko, Atletico have a near full-strength squad for the visit of the Gunners. Experienced fullback Juanfran is the only confirmed absentee, due to a hamstring injury.

The other semi-final is between Red Bull Salzburg and Olympique de Marseille. The French outfit won the first leg at home 2-0 and hence, are favourites to progress to the final.
