Much to the delight of Brazil supporters, fans and teammates, Neymar scored a goal and assisted another in his first match since June 2019. His teammate Dani Alves was all in praise for Neymar’s performance.

Dani Alves stated that playing with the superstar Neymar was indeed a great experience after he scored in his return match to the pitch. It is worth highlighting that the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward returned to the football pitch after three months of injury concerns and transfer negotiations involving him.

In his comeback match which ended in a 2-2 draw against Colombo on Friday, Neymar played a part in both the goals. Though he was relatively quiet in the first half, it was his corner which helped his side opening the scoring. He then netted in another goal in the 58th minute of the match.

“It’s always a joy to have Ney doing what he knows best, enjoying himself and doing his best for the national team,” Alves told Globo, a Brazilian television network.

“We have affection for him and when he is focused his level is very high.

“Let’s let him do what he can do, which is to play football. We’re here to help him,” he added.

The other Brazil goalscorer Casemiro, who received the game’s only yellow card, did not like the approach of the opponent team.

“Guys come to play against Brazil and want to intimidate, putting their hands on us, talking, wanting to hit us,” Casemiro said.

“You have to win on the ball. They have their tactics and we have ours. When it comes to Brazil there are no friendlies. Teams are always strong against us, so we have to play hard,” he added.

“I took the yellow [for the challenge on Muriel] and I apologized,” he concluded.
