Manchester United thrashed Yeovil Town 4-0 to continue their progress in the FA Cup on Friday night, with debutant Alexis Sanchez picking up the the man of the match award but their lower-league opponents felt the accolade was unwarranted as they termed the selection ‘a commercially-driven one’.

Sanchez was heavily involved in almost all of United’s attacking forays, was fouled often and technically had an assist in their first two goals to cap off a lively 70-odd minute display at Huish Park.
Marcus Rashford took advantage of a mix-up between the Yeovil defence and their goalkeeper to nip in and score the opener but it was United’s No.7 who had initially set up the chance.
Ander Herrera got the second and this time there was no doubt over the assist as Sanchez had set up the Spaniard with a deft through-ball.
Jose Mourinho took off the hardworking winger with little over 20 minutes to go and United would add two more goals, courtesy substitutes Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford, to add gloss to the scoreline.
The Chilean, who joined United from arch-rivals Arsenal earlier in the week, has been billed as the player who will get the Red Devils back at the top of the Premier League summit and his first performance in a United jersey was certainly a promising one.
His first real test, without any disrespect meant to Yeovil Town, will come in mid-week when United travel to Wembley to take on Tottenham Hotspur in a highlight Premier League clash.
Considering he’s a former Gunner, the Spurs faithful will give him a frosty reception but United fans will hope the taunts will spur on the South American as they look to trim Manchester City massive gap at the top of the Premier League table.
