The second  ODI between Afghanistan and hosts Sri lanka went into vain as rain played spoilsport.  after this rain affected match,Afghanistan has now officially secured their spot in the ICC Cricket World Cup for the next year.

The Asian team now has 115 points overall in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League rankings after receiving the five additional points.

They are comfortably seated in the top eight countries and will automatically qualify for the cricket World Cup that will take place in India the following year. But Sri Lanka’s chances of securing automatic qualification are tenuous.

With just 57 points, the Dasun Shanaka-led team sits in 10th place in the standings. They still have four games left in the continuing season, so they must perform well over the next few days if they want to squeak into the top eight.

They may gain 10 points if they overcome Afghanistan in the last ODI on Wednesday.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (68) and Rahmat Shah (58), who both scored fifty-plus scores in the rain-shortened game, will hope that spin can help Sri Lanka, the current Asian champions, in the third one-day international.
