The academy also recognised his efforts in expanding neurological services to long ignored areas. A major highlight of his contribution was starting DNB Neurology training in the Northeast, which helped create local specialists and reduced the need for patients to travel far for treatment.

IAN further praised his research work, numerous publications, and his role as a mentor to young doctors. Calling him a social entrepreneur, the academy said his work has been “monumental for the State and the Nation” and an inspiration for future generations.

Nursing leadership recognised by ANEI

In its citation, ANEI called Borah a “visionary neurologist and dedicated social reformer.” The association highlighted his key public health initiatives such as GNRC Medireach, Swasthyamitra, and the Universal Health Mission.

ANEI also acknowledged his role in setting up the Asian Institute of Nursing Education in 2004. Over the years, the institute has grown into a respected centre for nursing education, helping build strong nursing leadership in India.
