Finding the time to freshen up, iron, and get ready for work is stressful enough, with weekdays slamming into your face just as you were getting comfortable on weekends. And then, if confusion arises regarding what to eat and prep, it’s time to bid farewell to arriving at your workplace right on time (and, dare we say it, even early). While the first meal of the day is crucial to kickstart your day, finding time to chop, sieve, and cook can be a challenge. But what if we told you that there are several breakfast options you can prepare the night before, store in the fridge, and take with you on the go? Staying consistent with your breakfast is no hardship when you can prep these breakfast ideas the night before.

Chia Pudding

I guess you knew this was coming in the list, but honestly, can a list like this be complete if we did not mention our all-time convenient breakfast option, chia pudding? Mason jars, a few tablespoons of chia seeds, and your favorite milk, whether dairy or non-dairy, and serve it with an assortment of berries, fruits, and superfoods. Is there anything more aesthetic, rejuvenating, and flavorful than chia seed pudding in the morning?

Dhokla

No, we are not kidding when we tell you that dhokla can be prepared the night before and packed for breakfast the next day. Dhoklas are not just healthy and nutritious but the perfect on-the-go breakfast ideas that are convenient to carry and that your work buddy will love. Steam your dhokla, cut them into desired shapes, and store them in an airtight box in the fridge.

Take them out in the morning, steam them for a minute or two, and pack them with grated coconut and coriander to enjoy dhokla while at work.

Roti Wraps

Have some leftover rotis in the fridge from lunch? Reheat them, apply your favorite spread, Nutella, and peanut butter, and top it off with your favorite fruit and nut. You can even make them in the morning, as it would hardly take 5 minutes to whip them up. Wrap it up like a roll, cover it in aluminum foil, and have them on the go, whether in your car (not while driving), on the bus, or after reaching work. Did we just remind you of your school lunch?

Chia Seed Blueberry Muffin

Bored with the same old oatmeal and fruits? Go for a muffin with chia seeds, oats, and fresh blueberries that burst with every bite. Muffins are extremely easy to carry and can be consumed anytime, anywhere, for breakfast or a late afternoon or evening snack.

Upma

For us Indians, upma is a breakfast that can even sometimes work as a lunch staple, especially for office workers. Upma is versatile and can be flavored with vegetables left inside your fridge’s fresh produce box. Add a sprig of curry leaves, peanuts, and spices, and add hot water, and your upma will be ready. We are not asking you to wake up early and do all the chopping and prepping. Prepare your upma the night before, store it in an airtight box, and before having it in the morning, sprinkle some water on top and reheat it.

These are some of our favorite on-the-go breakfast ideas that are convenient to make and won’t take up much time or require complex ingredients. A healthy, fulfilling breakfast is the right step towards a bright, energized day.
