Walking through the glass doors, one is greeted by a colourful blast of a myriad of colours. Murals of Bob Dylan, Marilyn Monroe and Rihanna adorn the walls. Picasso, on the ground floor, is for family dining.

The next two floors have been done up in different styles, keeping in mind the different types of patrons who come. The first floor, named Marakesh is done in an Arabian theme with seven cozy cabanas for seating. Big base Egyptian style hookahs are a specialty. The third floor is a modern setting with black floors and walls – a la corporate.

The cuisines served are Middle Eastern, continental, Indian and Chinese. The baked Philadelphia Stuffed Mushroom made with mozzarella and amul cheese, with chilli flakes, oregano and parsley adding flavours, belongs to the melt-in-your-mouth family. The soft, palpable exterior gives way at the slightest tear and should be eaten whole.

The Mezze Platter consisting of Zatar Naan, Pita Bread, Jujhe Kebab, Emirati grilled prawns and Peri Peri chicken is a fulfilling, smoky and greasy dish. Served with a side of pickled vegetables, this is an Indianised cousin of the original Middle Eastern dish, but the original one can be served if asked for.

Chicken Malaiwala, served with butter naan, is a simple and filling dish. The white and consistently thick gravy is very creamy and delicious. The soft chicken pieces come apart at the slightest nudge and the fluffy naan is a bonus for the taste buds and texture.

Among the numerous mocktails, three were served. The mango flavoured Frozen Margarita, served with a single cherry on top, is an icy chill hit. While the Orange Basil Mojito allows for a fresh tang, the Cranberry Twister is a dark red delight, with the sweet cranberry flavour contrasting beautifully with the salty aftertaste.

The Middle Eastern Jujeh Kebab is made with sour cream, salt, parsley, saffron, lemon zest and lots of garlic. Garnished with papad, salad and tomato chutney, it should be eaten hot! The slight sour tasting, juicy chicken is marinated for half an hour before being smoked. This is a very interesting dish and is a must try for the open-minded foodies.

To drown out all the fire and spice of the earlier items, the KitKat Shake was served last. A sinful offspring of broken Kit Kat pieces, chocolate, ice cream and milkshake, it is a dish that is not to be shared.

Baccara promises an unusual dining experience with fulfilling dishes to satiating appetisers, while enjoying an Egyptian hookah in an Arab themed cabanah. It is quite the dining experience, exuding the ambience of a different place and a different time.
