Neelu had been living separately from her husband for nearly two years due to a family dispute. She had taken a rented room in Friends Colony and was reportedly staying there alone. The couple has two children, who currently live with their father in Naya Gaon under the Sipri police station area.

Family members say Neelu had visited her children after Diwali and had returned to her rented accommodation on Tuesday night. Her son shared that she appeared happy during the visit, brought chocolates and gifts, and even spoke to them on the phone later after she reached back home. “We didn’t notice anything unusual. She seemed fine,” he said.

Neelu’s brother, Monu, stated that the family was informed about her death around Wednesday noon. He expressed doubts about the nature of her death and mentioned that a domestic issue had occurred more than a year ago, which had led to a legal case and Neelu moving out of the family home. However, he said the matter seemed to have settled down, and they did not anticipate such an incident.

A few months ago, during a political event in Jhansi, a disagreement had reportedly arisen between Neelu and her husband in the presence of senior party leaders, reflecting ongoing personal tensions.

Police officials from Nai Basti outpost stated that they have not yet received any formal complaint from the family. However, an inquiry has been initiated to examine the circumstances of the incident. The postmortem report is awaited and will be crucial in determining the next steps.
