Rain likely to lash Odisha as low pressure area forms in Bay of Bengal
It was expected to lie over North West Bay of Bengal in the evening of Saturday and intensify into a depression over the same area on Sunday, it said.
A day after the recovery of the body of a man in Haripur forest area under Nachuni police station jurisdiction of Odisha’s Khordha district, the police have cracked the sensational murder case by arresting three including the deceased’s spouse, who masterminded the crime.
Milli Mohapatra, wife of the deceased, planned and executed the murder of her husband Manorajan Mohapatra in collusion with two the help of other assailants including her male cousin. The motive behind the murder was to get rid of an abusive and alcoholic husband. She was reportedly exasperated with his torture at the hands of her husband.
The assailants had strangulated him by rope. Later, they stuffed the body in the newly-purchased suitcase and dumped it in the forest. While Mohapatra was strangulated at Chandeswar, the body was dumped in Haripur forest to escape detection. Police took the accused-trio to the spots to recreate the crime scene.
