A day after Rahul Gandhi’s “dance for vote” remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said the Congress leader not only insulted the PM but also Chhathi Maiya.
“Yesterday, Rahul Baba came and used some words to insult PM Modi. But by insulting PM Modi, he also insulted Chhathi Maiya. He said that those who celebrate Chhath Puja do drama,” Shah said while addressing a rally in Bihar’s Lekhisarai.
Shah said that neither Rahul Gandhi, nor his mother Sonia Gandhi could understand the importance of Chhathi Maiya.
The Home Minister said that everytime Congress insulted Modi, the party was wiped out in elections and predicted the same outcome in Bihar.
“You use abusive language against PM Modi. Just look at history. The number of times Congress leaders have used abusive language against Modi ji. Congress has been wiped out. Your workers insulted Modi ji’s mother.
“You used abusive language against Modi ji and you have insulted Chhathi Maiya. When the boxes will be opened on the 14th November, the (Grand) Alliance will be wiped out,” Shah said.
Earlier on Wednesday mocked PM Addressing a rally in Muzaffarpur, Rahul took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the PM can even perform Bharatnatyam on stage for votes.
“He just wants your vote. If 200 people from the crowd ask PM Modi to dance on stage in return for votes, the dance would begin. PM Modi will start performing Bharatnatyam on stage,” he said.
Gandhi also took Modi to task for skipping his ceremonial Chhath Puja prayers on the banks of the river Yamuna.
“They staged a drama and showed the truth to India… The Yamuna has dirty water. If someone drank it, they would either get sick or die. No one can go inside. The water is so dirty that if you enter it, you would get sick or get an infection… But Modi staged a drama. He built a small pond there… They will show you anything for elections… A pipe is installed from behind. Clean water is poured into it… The problem arose when someone took a photo of the pipe…,” he added.
The BJP was quick to launch a counter offensive with its Bihar election incharge Dharmendra Pradhan accusing the Congress leader of “crossing all limits”.
“Rahul Gandhi ji today crossed all limits, and used objectionable words against the PM and Chhath festival. He did this due to fear of loss. No words are enough to condemn what he said today,” Pradhan said.
However, the Congress swiftly responded by sharing Modi’s purproted “Mujra” remarks against the Opposition.
“I’ve heard some wounded souls are wandering around. These are the same souls who were stunned speechless when Modi performed his ‘mujra’. Sit quietly, you foolish Sanghis!,” Congress leader Supriya Shrinate responded.
