‘We will win after sunset,’ says West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee as BJP crosses majority mark in trends

“We will win after sunset,” West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee said on Monday.

According to the Election Commission of India official trends at 1:00 pm, the BJP was leading in 185 seats while the Trinamool Congress was ahead in just 92 seats.

Mamata claimed that counting had been halted at multiple centres and accused political opponents of attempting to manipulate perceptions of the results. She alleged that counting was stopped at around 100 centres in Kalyani and that results from at least seven EVMs had not been included in the tally.

“This is a clear BJP plan to show the Trinamool Congress trailing and weaken morale among our party workers,” Banerjee said while urging TMC counting agents and candidates to not leave counting centres under any circumstances.

She also said that the central forces were breaking her party offices and that the state police was working “under the central forces.”

“The Trinamool Congress is leading in at least 70–100 seats, but these figures are being withheld deliberately to decrease our morale. I urge all my workers to not fall for this,” Mamata said.

The Election Commission and security agencies have not issued an immediate response to the allegations. The Bharatiya Janata Party has also not commented on the claims at the time of reporting.
