The US Federal Reserve’s recent stance on interest rates has sent ripples of uncertainty through both domestic and international markets.
Uttarakhand Finance Minister Prakash Pant died in the United States during treatment on Wednesday. He was undergoing treatment for lung ailment since March this year. Pant was adored by all for his simple and friendly behaviour. The Uttarakhand government has announced a three-day state mourning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed pain over the loss of Prakash Pant and sharing the grief said, “Anguished by the passing away of Uttarakhand`s Finance Minister Prakash Pant. His organisational skills helped strengthen the BJP and administrative skills contributed to Uttarakhand`s progress. My thoughts are with his family and supporters. Om Shanti.”

Born on 11 November 1960, Pant made big strides in Uttarakhand politics and he was even in the race for the coveted Chief Minister post twice. From a chemist to a top Uttarakhand political leader, Prakash Pant held many important portfolios in the BJP rule in the hill state. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat has expressed shock over the death of Prakash Pant and termed it a loss of own family member.
